The Way of Escape

We’ve all been there. Blown it. Irreparably. Can’t fix it; can’t undo it.

Other times, we’ve been the brunt of someone else blowing it. Someone has hurt us. Badly. Irreparably. Can’t fix it; can’t undo it.

We are stuck. Stuck in a RUT.

Two different times this week, I’ve heard it said that God doesn’t give us more than we can bear. Then why does it seem we just can’t bear it?

Because God didn’t SAY some things wouldn’t be too difficult for you to bear alone. What He DID say is that

  • What you suffer has happened to someone else and there isn’t anything that you experience alone.
  • He is faithful and can be trusted to not allow you to go through things you CAN NOT endure, BUT He will ALWAYS provide the means to escape to a landing place.
  • Endurance is your way of escape.

Remember these THREE THINGS when you have been hurt beyond measure, or if you have blown it in a huge way.

  1.   PAST

Get a calendar and circle the day(s) and year(s) where you either blew it or were hurt or abused badly or a catastrophic event happened in your life. LEAVE the event there: in your PAST.  You can’t drive forward effectively while looking in the rearview mirror!

I do not consider, brethren, that I have captured and made it my own [yet]; but one thing I do [it is my one aspiration]: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the [supreme and heavenly] prize to which God in Christ Jesus is calling us upward. (Philippians 3.13-14)

  1.   PRESENT

God gives you a NEW DAY, a PRESENT, today! It is YOURS, fresh, full of His promises, possibilities, forgiveness, redemption and restoration. TAKE IT and USE IT and rejoice in it!

  1.   FUTURE

Your future is as bright as the promises of God. He has GREAT PLANS for you!

I know the plans that I have for you, declares the LORD. They are plans for peace and not disaster, plans to give you a future filled with hope. (Jeremiah 29.11 GW)

The Message puts it this way:

I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned out—plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for. (Jeremiah 29.11 MSG)

You may not think you are able to get through it alone, but lean on Jesus: HE is a present help in times of trouble, HE is there to get you through, and HE will carry you!

…for He [God] Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down (relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!] (Hebrews 13.5, AMP)
